12 Trends of Christmas: Day 6

Hello, hello hello!

It’s already day six and I am here thinking oh my, I have so many more ideas and not enough days. Thought we would kick back to beauty again. So Christmas is the time to rock a deep plum, burgundy or red lip. To be honest I think you can wear any shade lipstick at this time of year and rock it! Here are my top six shades this festive season: (couldn’t cut it at 5)

1. Mac Diva

2. Mac Matte Royal

3. Mac Rebel

4. Charlotte Tilbury Hel’s Bells

5. Charlotte Tilbury Glastonberry

6. Nars Cruella

What are your favourite winter lipsticks?

12 Trends of Christmas: Day 5

I don’t know about you but when Christmas rolls round I definitely get into the festivities. Decorations, music, mulled wine and plenty of Christmas treats watching movies. Christmas is the time of year I eat until I’m stuffed (& then I eat some more). To be honest that is me most of the year actually 😛

So while I sit and stuff my face with loads of festive treats, I love watching a good Christmas movie. So here are my top 5 (in no particular order):

1. Elf

2. The Grinch

3. Home Alone

4. Love Actually

5. The Snowman

That was actually so hard to narrow down. Think I will go and watch the Grinch now (with a few cheeky treats). What are your favourite Christmas movies.

12 Trends of Christmas: Day 4

Hello! Today I thought we could change things up and talk about Festive Beauty! So I was thinking of things I like to change up and I knew straight away that once the festive season approaches I whip out my Charlotte Tilbury eye shadow palette. I am not saying you all need to buy one (you should :P) but I just can’t get enough of the gold pigment at this time of year!

My eyes make some transformation from neutral shades to beautiful berry tones and gold glitter. I mean if I can’t wear glitter at Christmas when can I?

So i just want to stick in two of my favourites for eyes. First one being my Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita palette. This is a classic and one of their best sellers. It has a really beautiful burgundy shade which looks stunning on its own but the bottom right shade blended in with it adds a smoky effect. The star of the show is that incredible gold pressed pigment. Use it with a bit of Mac fix+ on the brush to really make it pop! The ideal Christmas eye.

Secondly on the note of plums, burgundys and orange tones, Inglot have a palette called the ‘InSpice’. I am a very lucky gal and I was gifted this bad boy. It is currently all I use for my eyes and brows. I love it as much (if not a little more) than my mac palette. I think Inglot has really stood out this year. They are so well priced and the make up is such a high quality. I have loved using all the shades in this palette.

12 Trends of Christmas: Day 3

Since we were discussing footwear yesterday I need to mention a new trend, the sock boot. They are everywhere and you can incorporate all trends with it. Literally you can get them with embroidery, velvet, suede, sparkle. They are totally worth it and I have found a few pairs I am longing for.

MissGuided: Glitter Sock Boots in Pink

New Look: Navy Sock Boot with Heel

River Island: Leopard Sock Boot

Topshop: Leather Gold Heel Sock Boot

If you aren’t feeling the sock boot trend why not try these out:

River Island: Velvet Ankle Boot with Silver Glitter Heel

River Island: Sequin Heeled Ankle Boots

Topshop: Embroidered Ankle Boots

Boots are an absolute essential in the Autumn/ Winter months. Why not make them a statement piece!

12 Trends of Christmas: Day 2

Well today’s trend is one that has been around for a few years now and it looks like they are set to stay. Over the knee boots! This must be the third year that they’ve been in fashion (easily) and you can pick a pair up anywhere from the highend down to the highstreet. Here are just a few of my favourites:

New Look: Over the Knee Platform Boots (on sale!)

MissGuided: Grey Over the Knee Boots (50% off)

Public Desire @ Asos: Tortoise Heel Over the Knee Boots

New Look: Over the Knee Flat Boots (also discounted!)

Asos: Black Over the Knee Boots

Also if you are on a budget, Penney’s are now stocking these boots but you would want to hurry because they are flying out the doors.

12 Trends of Chistmas

Feeling like getting into that festive spirit, but don’t want to go overboard. How about adding a few festive pieces to your wardrobe or make up. Today is trend number 1. Tune in daily to see the different trends.

1. Sparkle

Who does not love a bit of sparkle. Whether it is a sparkly top or a crazy bomber, Christmas is the time to rock it! So I bought a pretty cool piece to wear on Christmas day and I adore it. Unfortunately I left it in my house in Dublin so I don’t have an image but click here and you will see it. It is a fab silver sparkle midi dress with a slight high neck. It is such a nice Christmas dress but also the style is quite casual. Dress it up or down but it will definitely get you through this Christmas season!

A Review of 2016

Hello again!

Typical Emma fell off the planet for awhile again. Actually no, for once I have a valid reason. I now live in Dublin and am doing a Masters, so I’m a pretty busy gal. Between the long hours, workload and all the socializing I have to do 😛 it is difficult to find time. But sometimes you need to take a breather and just let go! So here it goes. . .

Last we spoke I hadn’t even moved, so a lot has happened. I have just finished my first semester and it is going quite well. Dublin was the best decision I have made and I guess I want to tell you, don’t be afraid of change. Everything works out for the best and even though I was anxious to move I could not be happier that I did what was best for me.

Dumped in Irish college for two weeks with complete strangers at the time, it is clear that was a great idea. I have met some fab people and we have laughed, joked and had a hooley! We have also stressed, worked our butts off and helped each other through.

Of course I graduated from UCC and what a day that was! I couldn’t of done it without the support of my family and friends who kept me going (and I mean that). Never been so delighted!

Other than those two big changes the rest of 2016 has given me so much laughter and fun! (And I’m a quarter of a teacher now). Just a few highlights:

Roll on 2017! I have a feeling it could be my year 🙂

Beauty: This or That Tag

I haven’t done these tag posts in forever so I thought I would do two quick little posts this week. So this is the Beauty this or that tag and next Tuesday I will do the fashion version of this. So lets get right in.

blush or bronzer

Bronzer, I am obsessed with getting a bronzy glow and I always have a natural flush on my cheeks.

lip gloss or lipstick

Lipstick, 100%. I hate the sticky feel of gloss plus lipstick is so much longer lasting!

eye liner or mascara

Mascara. I cannot have makeup on and not have mascara. It completely changes the way you look. No way could I live without mascara.

foundation or concealer

Difficult because some days I do just wear concealer but I think I will have to say foundation.

neutral or color eye shadow

Neutral although I do really love a pop of colour sometimes.

pressed or loose eye shadows

Pressed, I do not want to be faffing about with loose shadows!

brushes or sponges

I use brushes for everything except my base so I suppose I will have to go with brushes.

perfume or body splash

Perfume. Couldn’t live without my YSL Black Opium.

lotion or body butter

Body butter

body wash or soap

Body wash. Do people still use soap?

lush or other bath company

I adore lush ❤

Hair
curly or straight

Straight

bun or ponytail

Ponytail, because I am proper lazy!

long or short

Definitely prefer my hair long but I was really glad I cut it all short.

light or dark

Dark, brown hair suits me much better but so many people say they love me as a blonde :/

And that is it for today. I tag you reading this to take this test xo

Pack With Me!

Hello again. So as I am writing this I am sitting on my bed with a suitcase in front of me and my wardrobe wide open. So I thought why not get the laptop out and share what I am packing. If you haven’t seen my top packing tips and tricks check the link here: My Packing Checklist!

As you are reading this I am already in the UK and will be away for around two weeks so I need a fair bit. However, I am staying with family so I’ll be able to wash clothes so I’m packing with the idea of mix and matching items. The weather is also very up and down. It is quite humid in Ireland so I am being quite positive packing lightweight clothes. Lets get into my case!

I sat down and made a list of all the things I would need and basic rule of thumb is that for every pair of trousers you should bring three tops and that way you don’t over pack. So here is what I did:

Jackets

I brought one jacket because I am hoping it will be nice and I won’t need more than the one. So I am going to wear my navy bomber jacket travelling. Also I am hoping to pick up a few hoodies and jackets when I am over so I don’t need any others.

Tops

In the end I settled on six tops because I packed three trousers. What I ended up with were:

1. Stripe Top from Bershka

2. Pink Bodysuit from Bershka

3. Off the shoulder Top from Stradivarius

4. Grey Crop Top from River Island

5. Long grey basic tee from H&M

6. Striped Crochet Crop Top from Topshop

Trousers

Typical Emma always sticks with her Topshop jeans. I just don’t think there is anything that will every fit me as well as they do. I packed two pairs of my petite Joni jeans, one black and one dark denim. I also packed my mustard culottes from Zara because I thought they would look cute if I was going out shopping or if I headed down to London for the day. Also perfect to dress up!

Shoes

As always I wore my Nike black roshe runs to the airport, I adore these and they seriously were worth the money. I am constantly wearing them. I also put in my classic River Island white sandals.

Dress

I packed one dress because I was told it was sunny so hopefully I will see some of this nice weather and get to wear this. Outfit post on this will be later in the week!

Don’t forget to pack underwear! Plus pyjamas and that is all my clothing.

Beauty

Liz Earle moisturiser

Mac pro palette

Bare Minerals complexion rescue

Too Faced mascara

Bourjois powder

Miss Sporty concealer

Topshop Bronzer

Pink Tangle Teezer

I put my real tecniques sponge, two face brushes and a couple of eye brushes in my bag and that was beauty packed. I also had my deodorant and a travel size of my favourite perfume, YSL Black Opium. Don’t forget to pack your toothbrush (that is the one thing I always forget)!

Other

As for anything else I packed my phone and iPad charger. I also had my handbag, purse, phone, ipad, a book and passport.

And that was it, all I took with me for my carry on!

Discover Ireland: Kerry Part 2

Hello again. So this is part two of my Kerry adventure. If you haven’t seen part one then go give it a read as soon as you can. You will find it under my Travel section in the blog.

13434918_10207108005480893_8914224378766730670_n

There is no way Ii will remember all the names of the places we went to but it was all along the Wild Atlantic Way. We began by getting on the ferry to Valentia and travelled for hours stopping for plenty of photographs and to look at the amazing views.

Our first stop was the Fogher Cliffs where we had such lovely views over the ocean. You could even see Skellig Michel off in the distance.

We continued for hours, stopping at each discovery point on the map and photographing every moment of laughter we shared. It was such a lovely trip and we got plenty of stamps on our passports. We ended the day by marking it in the sand and heading back to get some food!
